YuJa Panorama: Enhancing Accessibility in Brightspace

Overview

YuJa Panorama is U of A’s new accessibility tool designed to help faculty create inclusive, accessible digital course content within Brightspace. Starting this Spring, Panorama supports U of A’s commitment to equity and compliance with accessibility standards.

What is YuJa Panorama?

YuJa Panorama integrates directly into Brightspace, scanning course materials for accessibility issues, providing real-time feedback, and offering alternative formats for students. Instructors can easily identify and fix issues using a simple, user-friendly interface.

Key Features

  • Automatic Content Scanning: Instantly checks files (PDF, Word, PowerPoint) for issues like missing alt text, low contrast, and improper headings.

  • Alternative Formats: Students can access materials such as audio, ePub, HTML, Braille, or tagged PDFs.

  • Accessibility Scores: Instructors see scores and detailed guidance for improvements to increase accessibility.

Why It Matters

Compliance with ADA Title II and other regulations requires all digital content to be accessible by April 24, 2026. Accessible content benefits all learners, improving usability across devices and learning preferences. Panorama is the tool the U of A has chosen to help us continue to meet these accessibility standards.

Getting Started

• Upload content as usual in Brightspace.
• Review accessibility indicators and make improvements using provided feedback.
• Monitor course-level accessibility reports to prioritize fixes.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process. YuJa Panorama makes it easier to take small, impactful steps toward inclusive learning.
